Cecilia in the Summer is named after my mother. She was always beautiful. I remember how she glowed in the summer, I loved seeing her golden like that.
I like to say, 'I make jewelry I want to wear.'
It reminds me of the how writers alike say, 'Write the book you want to read.'
Jewelry making was a dream until I made my first pieces with opal and pearls. They were my mother’s favourite gems. Now I share my mother’s favourites at markets and fellow artists all over Toronto. I can’t wait to share them with you, too.

Julie Takasaki
Julie started Capilano Felt and Craft Co. out of her love for sewing, embroidery, and all things cute. Her work is about making everyday things whimsical, tactile and fun.
Felt art lets me use my hands, challenge myself creatively, and connect with people. I love watching someone’s face light up as they see something they love sculpted in felt form, from a dumpling to a bottle of Kewpie Mayo to an entire takeout tray of sushi.
Once you start working with felt, you quickly see the possibilities and all the fun you can have with it. I can’t wait to share an afternoon of felt, fun and creativity with you.

Capilano Felt and Craft Co.
Book editor by day and textile artist by night. Julie started Capilano Felt and Craft Co. out of her love for sewing, embroidery, and all things cute. Her work is about making everyday things whimsical, tactile and fun.
–
As a book editor, my days are filled with endless streams of words, PDFs, emails and spreadsheets. But from a young age, I’ve always loved art and making, constantly having some kind of creative side project on the go that I would work on in the evenings.
Capilano Felt and Craft Co. really became a way for me to use my hands, challenge myself creatively, and connect with people.
While I’ve worked with many different textiles over the years, felt really stands out for me. Once you start working with it, you quickly see the possibilities and all the fun you can have with it. I can’t wait to share an afternoon of felt, fun and creativity with you.

Graphic designer by day and ceramic artist by night. Monica created Monica Grace Ceramics out of creative curiosity and a genuine joy for bringing people together in community.

Monica Grace Ceramics came from a sense of community and creativity in me. I’d spent years in the art world — first in culinary arts and then in design. But something always felt missing. Until I discovered pottery — and everything fell into place.
Pottery is art. And maybe more importantly, it creates space for curiosity and community. It’s been a great source of joy for me to share hands-on experiences with people in sometimes unlikely places. From classrooms to breweries to farms alongside alpacas.
I can’t wait to share this whimsical experience with you at the beautiful Sunday Sunday!
